European Canicross Championships 2017
This year, the XX European Canicross Championships will take place in Italy, in the beautiful Santa Maria Maggiore (VB) in the Vigezzo Valley.
From 12 to 15 October 2017 more than 500 pairs (human & dog) will compete in three different disciplines:
- Canicross
- Bikejoring
- Scooter
Team Ireland will have a small team competing at the Championships & will be competing in each discipline, in a number of categories.
This trip to Italy is entirely self-funded by the athletes, so if you would like to donate something to our Team Ireland Fund, it can be done so here: Send Team Ireland to ECF’s
Thanks!!!

Joan Boyd
Joan Boyd lives in the West of Ireland and competes in canicross, usually running with her gorgeous 8 year old dog, Nunu (IKC registered name Sikulubani Thandwe) pulling enthusiastically in front.
Joan won the Canicross Ireland national championship in Female Canicross last season, and currently holds the age category record at 3 different Park Run events.
She and Nunu have run sub 24 minutes over 5 kms and they are hoping to replicate that pace at the European Canicross Championships in Italy this October.
With her current level of training and running, she is in with a very good chance of coming home with a medal for Ireland in her class!!
